QuickSell 2000 provides
great flexibility for configuring your POS systems.
It supports multiple POS devices (scanners, printers,
pole displays, etc.) connected to the serial ports,
the parallel port, or the keyboard input on your PC.
QuickSell also completely supports open PC-based POS
systems, such as, the IBM SureOne, Epson IT-U200, and
TEC ST-5500/RE-2500/3500.
Stand-Alone POS Stations
You can run QuickSell 2000 on a stand-alone POS station
or in a networked environment. A stand-alone system
may be appropriate for a small store where a single
POS register is sufficient for all sales transactions.
The same PC can be used to perform the back-office functions
provided by the QuickSell 2000 Manager program.
Networked Environments
A local area network (LAN) uses a common QuickSell 2000
POS database. A master/satellite configuration using
a peer-to-peer network operating system is adequate
for up to ten POS registers. A POS register is assigned
as the master system where the QuickSell 2000 POS database
is located. Typically, the master station is the least
used register so that it efficiently shares the database
with the other satellite registers. Back-office functions
can be performed on this or any other register.
If you have large stores, a file server configuration
is appropriate. This setup is essentially the same as
the master/satellite except that one PC is dedicated
as the file server for the whole network.
QuickSell 2000 supports whichever configuration or POS
devices you select. You should consider the following
options and configurations as guidelines only. Contact
SMS if you need additional information.

Additional Notes for Windows...
1) Because of the Windows' CPU and memory requirements,
we suggest that your back office computer have as a
minimum a Pentium Class Processor and 64MB of RAM. QuickSell
2000 POS will work with 16MB of RAM; however the QuickSell
2000 Manager report generating functions may be slow
due to lack of RAM. As with any Windows applications,
the more RAM in your computer, the faster the program
will run.
2) You should set your Windows 95/98 task bar option
to Auto Hide so that the task bar will not be displayed
over the command buttons in the QuickSell 2000 POS screens.
